Mr. Tristen Perlberg is certainly not a new face at Margaret B. Pollard Middle School. He entered the role as principal this year with seven years of administrative experience at Chatham County schools; four of those years were as Pollard’s assistant principal.
Mr. Perlberg obtained his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University. He earned his master’s degree in school administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
During each school day, Mr. Perlberg can be found in the hallways, classrooms, cafeteria or even directing traffic in the car line! He stated, “I feel it’s important to be visible throughout the school and to be approachable for our students.” He and his administrative team observe several classrooms every day. On average, he personally observes instruction 3-4 times a day.
Mr. Perlberg considers his most important contribution is to, “ensure students receive a great education and to provide a school in which children feel safe, challenged, and nurtured.” With that mission in mind, the three areas that he would like to improve on this year are as follows: to increase the number of students who are proficient in Math and ELA, to make sure every student is growing academically, and to continue to help our students grow socially, emotionally, and developmentally.
When asked what his greatest accomplishment was, Mr. Perlberg stated, “I have been at Margaret Pollard every year that the school has been open, except for two. I would consider my greatest accomplishment is being part of how far the school has come during that time. I’m honored to be the principal that gets to work with the staff, students, and community to continue the school’s progress.”
Now, to learn some fun facts! If he could eat tacos and ice cream, while watching either the Detroit Tigers or the Detroit Pistons, after he had played 18 holes, his day would be made! He is also quite the athlete! Mr. Perlberg was a NCAA Division I All-American in Cross Country! He is being inducted into his university’s Hall of Fame this year!
Mr. Perlberg looks forward to continuing to build on the relationships that have already been established and forming new ones as well! Welcome to the principal position at Margaret B. Pollard Middle School, Mr. Perlberg!
