The Chatham Education Foundation Welcomes Emily Boynton

The Chatham Education Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Boynton as an administrative support specialist. In this role, Emily will assist with bookkeeping, processing gifts, scheduling meetings, and other administrative priorities.

Emily has more than 30 years of experience in management roles in both corporate and nonprofit settings. She has overseen the financial management programs and budgets for multiple nonprofit organizations including two local organizations focused on agricultural sustainability. She also has a background in books as a Store Manager for Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

Emily and her husband David are the owners of Fiddlehead Farm, a small award-winning farm and micro-jammery located in Pittsboro, N.C. The farm annually produces more than 50 products using the best local and organic ingredients and has won multiple national Good Food Awards.

Over the years, Emily has served as Board Treasurer for multiple local nonprofit organizations including the Carrboro Farmers’ Market, Abundance Foundation, and Chatham Mills Farmers’ Market. She currently serves as Board Treasurer of Community Organizing for Racial Equality (CORE).

As the proud parent of two CCS students–one of whom graduated from Northwood High School this past June–and having previously served on the Chatham Education Foundation Board, Emily is fully committed to the success of Chatham County’s public schools and students.

“I’m thrilled to have Emily join our team,” said CEF’s Executive Director Brittany Sandefur. “She’s a passionate advocate for our schools and her administrative and finance skills are going to help our Foundation reach a new level of raising money to support students and teachers in our Chatham County Schools.”

Beyond her nonprofit work, Emily enjoys making jam, growing hot peppers for Fiddlehead’s hot sauces, attending her kids’ sporting events, and going to the farmers’ market.
